About John

John Davis administers the Mojave Desert and Mountain Recycling Authority, a nine-member joint powers authority serving San Bernardino County’s High Desert and Mountain communities. His Authority work includes the High Desert Recycling Market Development Zone, the publicly-owned Victor Valley Materials Recovery Facility, and ongoing outreach programs. He has provided program support services to over 60 California local governments; and is an advisor to The Wildlands Conservancy, California’s largest non-profit landowner.

John Davis is:

  • Former President of the California Resource Recovery Association and now a Board Advisor;
  • Past-President of the California Association of Recycling Market Development Zones;
  • Board Member, Californians Against Waste
  • Chair of the ICLEI (Local Governments for Sustainability) Solid Waste and Materials Committee and contributor to ICLEI’s Community GHG Protocol;
  • A main author of ICLEI’s Recycling and Composting GHG Reduction Protocol;
  • Past Co-chair of the Materials and Product Stewardship Working Group for the West Coast Climate and Materials Management Forum;
  • One the principal contributors to the 2011 US EPA Report “Reducing GHG Emissions through Recycling and Composting”;
  • Instructor for CRRA’s “Recycling and Greenhouse Gas” certification classes;
  • Recipient of CRRA’s Rick Best Award for Environmental Advocacy; CRRA Service Award; US EPA National Notable Achievement Award; and the Inland Empire Leaders of Distinction Innovator/Pioneer Award
